Imagine not wasting time and water for the extra 5-10 minutes per day it takes to shave your legs!
How about getting a last-minute call to hit the beach with friends, and NOT having to worry that you've gone too long since your last bikini wax?
Have you ever caught your reflection and realized that you forgot to tweeze those pesky little chin hairs?
Guys, does your back hair prevent you from taking your shirt off in public?
Do embarrassing spider veins prevent you from wearing those favorite shorts tucked away in your closet?
Do those troublesome sun spots and freckles from years of sun exposure on your face and decollete bother you?
Wouldn't you like to not worry about any of these scenarios ever again?
How does the laser works?
The laser is attracted to the melanin that gives your hair follicle its color. Because our hair grows in cycles, the laser will only treat the actively growing hair. It takes a series of treatments because of the follicle growth cycles and unfortunately our hair does not grow at the same time. We have 500-1000 follicles per square cm and most of our hair is dormant, or in an inactive phase.
How many treatments will I need?
We say an average of 5 treatments, some will take less and some will take more. Women tend to need more treatments due to hormone levels. We cannot tell you how many treatments it will take for the hair removal process because everyone is different. Once you've been treated it will take anywhere from 2-4 weeks for the treated hair to fall out. We reschedule the next treatment in 4-8 weeks. It's important to know that it will take a series of treatments. You will possibly need to come in once or twice per year for touchups.
Does it hurt?
It is a prickly or stinging sensation. Remember that everyone is different, and it will depend on his or her level of sensitivity or pain tolerance. Most people tolerate the treatment just fine; therefore we do not recommend numbing cream until after the first treatment. Most people do not need it. However, we do have a numbing cream available if you feel you need it. It should be applied 1 hour prior to treatment and be covered with plastic wrap for better numbing results. We suggest using the numbing cream on the genital area.
Are there any adverse side effects?
It is important to avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks prior to treatment (or longer if you retain your tan well), during treatment, and for 2 weeks after treatment. There is a chance of possibly permanent skin discoloration if you tan in the sun, in a tanning bed, or use sunless tanner during treatment. It doesn't mean you can never tan again, just not during treatment. You could also possibly get a small blister compared to a blister you might get from a curling iron that will go away in 2-5 days. We can suggest products if that should happen. Typically following treatment you will have reddening and/or swelling in the treated area that will last from 15 minutes to a few hours with a possibility of red hair follicles for several days.
Is it permanent?
FDA has only cleared laser hair removal for permanent reduction. We feel that if you keep up with your scheduled appointments you will see a significant amount of hair loss. Remember, you need to understand there are 500 to 1000 follicles per square centimeter and some of these follicles are dormant and could grow at a later date due to hormone changes, certain medications, and stress levels that may stimulate or activate new growth of these previously dormant follicles.
Do you offer a guarantee?
We are very cautious of anyone who offers a guarantee and suggest carefully looking at the fine print. It is usually a play on words offering nothing more than 'Guaranteed Results'. The fact is, every laser treatment will provide results. The question remains, are the results what you expected? It is impossible to determine which hair follicles have been treated and which ones may be in another growth stage or which follicles were previously dormant follicles that have been stimulated into growth due to hormone changes, certain medications, and stress levels. Therefore we can not offer a guarantee for hair loss but feel confident you will see a significant reduction if you follow the recommended schedule for treatment. Furthermore, physicians cannot legally offer guarantees.
What if I have blond, gray, white or fine red hair?
Since these hair colors usually have little or no pigment, which is required for the laser to effectively treat the follicle, we may not be able to treat this hair. A test spot can be included at no extra charge along with your consultation to see if the hair is treatable with the laser. Sometimes these hair colors have dark roots or enough pigment in the bulb that it may be treatable.
